Robbing Toronto

I’m not saying Toronto does everything right. I mean, the City raised property taxes at a time when people really can’t afford it. But I don’t like to see the 416 robbed and raided by both the federal and provincial governments.

First, the Ford government came and took away our public school board. Think what you like about it, but it’s ours. It’s like this: You own an older car. There’s things wrong with it, but it runs and it’s yours. Would you like it if someone just came around and took it from your driveway?

Then, the federal government moved in and took away $126 million from the City. I mean that money is already gone, never to be seen again. Why? Prime Minister Carney decided not to pay his bill for the federal government’s refugee program.

It’s like going to a lavish dinner you’re invited to by a rich and famous guy that everyone loves, and then he goes to the bathroom and never comes back, leaving you with a huge bill.

Doug Ford and Mark Carney seem to be playing by the same game plan when it comes to our city. Take as much as you like because Torontonians won’t say anything.

They’re probably right.

We’re too busy working our asses off trying to pay our bills. Everything keeps going up. Food, gas, car insurance, mortgages, you name it, we’re paying for it.

The City is paying its bills. Like we all do. But the provincial and federal governments are acting like delinquents. Like car jackers running loose on our streets.

The City election is coming soon and Torontonians might make the City pay, while the real culprits will still be at large.
