I asked the four main candidates running in this byelection the following question: If you were to choose one thing that this election is about, what would it be?

Amrit Parhar, NDP
“The Toronto--St. Paul's by-election is about addressing housing affordability and protecting tenants' rights. Our community needs strong advocacy to ensure affordable housing options and prevent displacement. As the NDP candidate, I am committed to fighting for policies that keep housing accessible and equitable for all Toronto St. Paul's residents.”

Christian Cullis, Green Party
"This election is a referendum on the status quo. Other parties have signaled that they are ready to abandon a livable future in favour of lining the pockets of big oil. Voting Green shows that you cannot be taken for granted. A Green vote is the only vote for change."

Leslie Church, Liberal
“Local priorities are at the heart of this election. Issues like Affordable Housing, Healthcare, Quality Education, and a Fair Economy are critical. Supporting local arts and youth programs, standing against antisemitism are also vital. It’s about building a community that’s inclusive, equitable, and prosperous for everyone who calls it home.”
