King of Trompo

Mexican shawarma. Arab tacos. Brought to Mexico by Lebanese immigrants one hundred years ago, the Shawarma took off like wildfire. Transformed by Mexican culture and renamed, Trompo (after the shape of the spinning top), this fast-food delight is popular everywhere in the country.

Jose and Patricia Mendez have brought this unique taste of Mexico to Oakwood Village. They opened their restaurant, King of Trompo this month at the corner of Oakwood and Vaughan. Stop by for this unique taste of Mexican and Lebanese fusion.
