When I was knocking on doors last week, some neighbours told me that intruders were entering yards and staying there. I thought it was strange, since I’ve never seen that in the 10 years I’ve been in the area. But lo and behold, it happened to us on Friday night. A guy was stalking our yard for about an hour before I arrived.
My teenager was having a birthday gathering with friends (no parents allowed), when this guy appeared at the window of the backyard and wouldn’t leave. The police were called, but I arrived before they did, carrying a broomstick. I made the stalker leave and followed him away from our house for about a block. Eventually the police arrived and took reports but it was all over by then. The police advise to just hold tight until they arrive. What do I know? I was just a worried dad.
